Commercial condensing gas boilers
Fossil fuels aren’t dead, long live the gas condensing boiler
When it comes to energy efficient heating systems renewable energy products are not the only way. Using a high efficiency, condensing gas boiler for your commercial heating not only saves energy but reduces carbon emissions too.
Below we cover some of the benefits of using gas condensing boilers for your next project, and why there isn’t a one size fits all solution. To find out which commercial boiler solution is best for your building request a visit from your local sales manager.
High output, small footprint
Modern condensing gas boilers are capable of high outputs from a very small footprint. More than 1MW output from less than one square metre floor space is possible with the Upton vertically stacking condensing gas boilers. This helps to save space and could reduce the size of the plant room – for city centre developments where space is at a premium every metre saved could be better used for other services.
Increased gas boiler efficiency
The controls on gas condensing boilers are far superior today enabling them to accurately match the heat load of a building with little wastage or overshoot. This means these high efficiency boilers will only be using energy that is needed, making it better for the environment. Using less energy also means lower gas bills and over the lifetime of the condensing gas boiler this could be a significant amount of money.
Compliance with future regulations
Hamworthy’s condensing gas boilers are fully compliant with the Energy related Products Directive and the Building Regulations 2013 so rest assured that your equipment is compliant with efficiency standards.
Due to their high efficiency, some of the gas condensing boilers on the market also qualify for Enhanced Capital Allowances, enabling a business to write off the capital cost of purchasing heating plant, such as boilers, against their taxable profits.
What are the benefits of using gas as a fuel?
Supply
For buildings that are on the gas network the fuel supply is readily available and does not need to be pre-ordered. Pipe work to get the gas to the gas condensing boilers will need to be considered and should always be installed in line with the British standards. Our CPD on best practice refurbishment looks at what needs to be considered in relation to pipe work for boilers.
Storage
There is no need to find extra space for a fuel store and access for delivery like you need to with biomass boilers. You also don’t need to worry about stockpiling or running out. This can sometimes be the deciding factor when choosing between a biomass boiler and gas condensing boiler.
Security
The natural gas supply to the UK is fairly secure (according to Amber Rudd MP, Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change “The UK is one of the most energy secure countries in the world”).
That being said it isn’t going to last forever so we do need to consider ways of reducing our consumption. Condensing gas boilers are playing their part in reducing the amount of gas being used in commercial heating systems. If you compare an old atmospheric gas boiler with a new condensing gas boiler you can save a significant amount of gas consumption from using the latter.
