The Upton boiler range - when size matters!
When it comes to boilers, there isn’t a one size fits all solution. However, if space is limited, the Hamworthy Upton boiler range offers a compact and vertically stacked design, which means more than 1MW output can sit on less than 1m² footprint.
This was a particularly important consideration for UK South Services when they undertook two recent boiler replacement projects, both of which required a space-saving system that could be installed on a limited budget.
To meet the needs of a multi-tenanted commercial building in Cambridgeshire, which was experiencing problems with its existing boiler, UK South Services opted for two Hamworthy Upton boilers. These were fitted side by side, and a new flue liner was dropped through the existing flue way. For the latter part of the project, a large articulated boom was required to facilitate the flue installation from the roof of the building.
Also struggling to navigate space constraints was a prestigious six-story office block in Holborn, London. Following a site survey, UK South Services Ltd identified several issues, mainly to do with restricted ceiling height and overhead obstructions in the building which presented a challenge. Furthermore, as the boiler was in a basement, flue routes were complicated. To address this, UK South Services Ltd was able to retain the existing flue setup by re-lining the existing vertical stack. Two low-level Hamworthy Upton modular boilers were then specified side by side to save space. This provided a solution to the building's restricted ceiling height whilst also keeping within the client's budget constraints.
