West Ham Nursery Greenhouse Heating

Three Hamworthy Purewell VariHeat 180kW condensing boilers are at the core of the unusual new greenhouse plant room helping to grow plants and meet conservation regulations.

Each year West Ham Nursery produces over 280,000 spring and summer bedding plants for the 77 acre park, and various gardens, churchyards and other open spaces in the City of London. The eight greenhouses within the nursery, sited across five acres require close heating control to maintain a constant temperature for optimum growing conditions.

The Solution

To satisfy the requirements of the nursery, Maracom, Hamworthy’s service partner in the South East, installed three Purewell VariHeat 180 condensing boilers into the plant room.

The nursery required close control of load matching and the whole system is controlled by a Building Management System (BMS) to ensure it retains the perfect atmosphere for the plants.”

Designed as direct replacement for cast iron atmospheric boilers, the Purewell VariHeat occupies the same space as its predecessors but with 50% more output and exceptional efficiencies of up 108% nett on its condensing models. The range consists of nine models; four high efficiency and five condensing versions, with outputs ranging from 65kW to180kW per boiler.
